Laura Russell is a qualified speech-language therapist and lecturer for the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (University of Cape Town). The management of voice disorders is her particular area of interest, as well as her teaching area.

Laura has extensive experience in working with the rehabilitation of injured voices (e.g. nodules, vocal fold paralysis), as well as in areas such as muscle tension dysphonia, puberphonia and transgender voice training. She has a background in psychology which allows her a unique understanding of the complex social and emotional factors that are tied up with one’s voice, and she offers a caring and empathetic approach to management.

In addition to her clinical work, Laura provides voice, accent and communication skills training to anyone wishing to improve their skills in these areas.
